My name is Michaela and I am a 20-something year old from Connecticut. When I was 19 years old, I created my first blog which consisted of updates on my fundraising leading up to my volunteer trip in Guatemala and then my adventures along the way. I called that blog “Desire To Inspire” in hopes to inspire others to follow their dreams like I was beginning to do myself. My dream at that time was to travel the world and help others wherever I could along the way.

That was in 2014, now in 2018 my dream is the same, but the way I am going about it is a little different. My blog transformed from “Desire To Inspire” to Eat. Feel. Live., when I began to have a growing passion for living a happy and healthy life. Now, my dream of traveling the world and helping others along the way has taken a focus towards helping others learn to live a similar lifestyle.

I say a happy AND healthy, rather than just one or the other, because I believe you cannot have one without the other. Let me tell you a little bit about my story to give you a better understanding of this…


I can’t tell you exactly when it started, sometime around when I graduated from high school, I started to make changes in my lifestyle and diet in order to be, what I thought was, healthy. I went through phases of trying smoothie cleanses, going to the gym everyday, eating a high animal-based protein diet, becoming pescatarian, then vegetarian and finally I landed where I am today— following a plant-based vegan lifestyle. I found that all of the phases that I went through in the past, I could not stick with. This was most likely because they all either felt like a chore (going to the gym everyday and sticking to the same old workouts) or I was depriving myself (only smoothies for 7 days?!). The difference between those phases and following a plant-based vegan lifestyle for me, is that everyday I am learning something new. I am finding different foods and different ways they benefit my health. I am learning different ways to recreate my favorite “unhealthy” meals and snacks, to make them nourishing and healing. I am eating foods that energize me, rather than foods that leave in me in a food coma for hours, unable to focus or be productive. I used to despise getting home after my 9 to 5 and having to figure out what to cook. Now, I am excited to walk into the kitchen and fuel my body!

But it isn’t just my diet changes that have helped me create a happy and healthy life. I also started to make other lifestyle changes. Sometimes we forget that our mind and body are connected. We can fuel our bodies with all the best foods, but if our daily actions are not healing and healthy as well than our bodies will still suffer and so will our mind and we will constantly be searching for happiness without obtaining it.

In order to make sure my daily actions were matching my new healthy lifestyle, I started to change where I was focusing my energy. I started practicing yoga, let go of relationships that were not nourishing, I quit my 9 to 5 and bought a plane ticket to the other side of the world, started writing poetry and put my energy into creating this blog.

(Now, I’m not saying you need to quit your job and buy a plane ticket like I did… but I’m sure you can think of one thing in your life daily life that is not benefiting your health and that is where you should start.)

Through the past couple years I have been on quite the journey to living a happy and healthy life. I am still continuing to challenge myself and grow each day. I hope my stories, recipes, tips, and more that you will find throughout my blog, help YOU to make the decision to start (or continue) down the path to a healthy life that you can say you are happy to live. When you EAT good, you FEEL good. When you feel good, you LIVE good.
